 Alchemy Theatre Company will be presenting a Staged Reading Series at the Helen Plum Memorial Library in Lombard on the following dates. Admission is free. Please call the Adult Services Department at the library (630/627-0316) to reserve a seat.

 

 

January 30, 7p.m.- Rabbit Hole by David Lindsay-Abaire 

Becca and Howie are a happily married couple living a quiet life in Larchmont , N.Y. , when a devastating tragedy -- the accidental death of their 4-year-old son -- throws them into emotional turmoil. Alternately sad and funny, Lindsay-Abaire's realistic drama follows the couple as they grieve -- in very different ways -- and struggle to reassemble their marriage and come to terms with unimaginable loss.

 

February 20, 7p.m.- On Gold Pond By Ernest Thompson

The loons are back again on Golden Pond and so are Norman and Ethel Thayer. This summer, their daughter  -- whom they haven't seen for years -- feels she must be there for Norman 's birthday. She and her fiance are on their way to Europe the next day but will be back in a couple of weeks to pick up the fiance's son. When she returns Chelsea is married and her stepson has the relationship with her father that she always wanted. Will father and daughter be able to communicate at last?

 

March 27, 7p.m.- Doubt by John Patrick Shanley

Spellibinding and expertly written, Doubt unfolds the cat-and-mouse game of did-he-or-didn't-he between totalitarian Sister Aloysius and the new priest, Father James. When young Sister James brings her superior news of a suspicious meeting between the popular priest and and a young boy, the elder nun begins a crusade to out the man's crimes. But, in a world where things are not always as they appear, it is often hard to separate fact from fiction and who, in the end, is and is not guilty.
